Inner West Council to finalise locations for 136 new EV chargers

Inner West Council has opened consultation on the proposed locations of 136 new electric vehicle chargers. The roll-out of the new chargers was announced in May as part of a NSW Government program to make EV charging more accessible for people who can’t charge at home.

The proposed locations include five on-street chargers in Newtown: four on Holmwood St and one on Alice St. There are also on-street chargers proposed for Belmore St, Cavendish St and Metropolitan Rd in Enmore, and Federation Rd, Fowler St and Mallett St Camperdown. These will add to the existing chargers on Brown St, Newtown (pictured) and Carillon Ave, Camperdown, which were installed last year through a partnership between City of Sydney, Ausgrid and charging provider EVX.

All of the proposed chargers will be Level 2 AC chargers capable of charging at up to 22KW. Most will have a single port, while some will have two ports. Only some locations will have a dedicated EV charging bay.
